AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM

The sprinkler system works on the principle that the most efficient way of extinguishing a fire is to spray it with water. Sprinklers are designed to activate only when necessary and not every head in the system will operate, only those sprinkler heads which are in the fire area. It is activated only when the temperature reaches a predetermined degree in the heat sensor in the sprinkler head. In a fire condition, as the temperature rises, the fluid in the sprinkler head expands, shattering the glass bulb which releases the water. The water flows on to a deflector plate which is designed to create a particular spray pattern of water onto the fire, thus extinguishing it.
