Electro-mechanical design and implementation of motion components can be ultimately affected the positioning and timing performance of high precision mechatronics system. In this seminar, the performance constraints on the modelling, control and mechanical design of high performance electro-mechanical system are presented. The limitation and constraints of the motion performance is introduced in the first section of the seminar. The motion performance requirements of an electro-mechanical system are represented in terms of travelling distance, profile time, settling time and steady-state error. The approach on the optimal trajectory for achieving the desired travel time with minimum excitation to the mechanism is discussed. The classical control design method in terms of frequency response is introduced. In the second section, an iterative learning controller is introduced to demonstrate performance improvement which cannot be achieved using simple feedback control method. A high precision parallel manipulator is employed to demonstrate the benefits of the proposed modelling and control methods.

Metrology

Metrology is the science of measurement. Metrology includes all theoretical and practical aspects of measurement.

Forensic metrology

Forensic metrology is metrology, the science of measurement, as it applies to forensic sciences. Forensic laboratories and criminalistic laboratories perform numerous measurements and tests to support both criminal and civil legal actions. Examples of forensic metrology include the measurement of blood or breath alcohol content, the quantification of controlled substances (both net weights and purity), and length measurements of firearm barrels. The results of forensic measurements are used to determine if a person is charged with a crime or may be used to determine a statutory sentencing enhancement. Other examples of forensic metrology includes tests that measure if there is a presence of a substance (e.g., cocaine), latent print examination, questioned documents examination, and DNA analysis.

ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENTATION

Endoscopic Instrumentation deals with the endoscopes and its associated Instrumentation. Fiber optic endoscopes now have widespread use in medicine and guide a myriad of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Endoscopy is the examination and inspection of the interior of body organs, joints or cavities through an endoscope. An endoscope is a device using fiber optics and powerful lens systems to provide lighting and visualization of the interior of a joint. Endoscopy has enabled us to take panoramic views of the integral organs. Prior to the widespread use of endoscopy and diagnostic imaging, most internal conditions could only be diagnosed or treated with open surgery. There are other methods to see the outline of the organs but don

EARTH REMOTE SENSING IN AGRICULTURAL INSTRUMENTATION

This seminar describes the earth remote sensing techniques used in agriculture. Spaceborne remote-sensing instruments are used for applications ranging from global climate monitoring to combat-theater weather tracking to agricultural and forestry assessment. Aerospace has pioneered numerous remote-sensing technologies and continues to advance the field.Aerospace work in remote sensing supports not only the Department of Defense (DOD), but NASA, NOAA, and other governmental agencies as well. In the coming years, as these organizations seek to coordinate their remote-sensing efforts, Aerospace research and analysis will play an important role in determining what type of systems are developed and deployed.Remote sensing has shown potential for use in agricultural management for a number of years; however, the availability of fine spatial resolution, near real-time data has limited its application. New companies that provide aircraft-based imagery to meet the resolution and temporal requirements for agricultural management are now emerging. The promise of commercially available, high-resolution satellite imagery will also provide additional sources of remotely sensed data .
Several applications have been developed to use remotely sensed data to infer both plant and soil characteristics. The development approaches appear to be emerging in the application of remote sensing and site-specific agriculture. Advances in precision farming technology provide the tools needed to apply information from multispectral images to management problems. There is still considerable work to be done before the full benefits of remotely sensed data can be realized, but there are applications that can benefit from this data at the present time. And it is ensured that sensing systems keep pace with the customers
